Carmella Green, 70, of South Plainfield, was driving on Mountain Avenue at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, June 6 when her vehicle left the road and struck multiple trees, Piscataway police said.

The mother of three recently moved from South Bound Brook to South Plainfield, according to an obituary published by Gleason Funeral Home.

She worked as a caregiver at Somerset Woods Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in the Somerset section of Franklin, the obit said.

“A dedicated caregiver... Carmella had a profound love for people,” the obituary said. “Whether she was working bingo or enthusiastically playing it, she was always surrounded by friends and community.”

"Her commitment to helping others was evident in her 35 years as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and her volunteer work at the local food bank," the obituary said.
